Each piece in this collection is a landscape engraving created by Claude Lorrain, engraved by Richard Earlom, and published by John Boydell showcasing different perspectives of nature throughout London, such as towns, hillsides, and seashores. 

Claude Lorrain also known as Claude Gellee was a French artist, best recognized for artistry in ideal landscape painting (idealistic persceptive of nature's true beauty). Lorrain often attributed his inspirations from Classical concepts of Rome's countryside. Landscapist Agostino Tassi is the artist known for training Lorrain in his beginnings as an artist. Working with Tassi is the reason Lorrain founded his interest in landscape painting and the rest was history. Lorrain first dated art piece is Landscape with Cattle and Peasants and was painted in 1629. Lorrain is renowned for his painting perspective showcasing the conditions nature, views of the sun, as it reflects on seawater and rivers from dawn to dusk. 

Condition: Overall in very good condition. Toning as expected due to age. Mild foxing along the sides of the engraving. Minor creasing on all corners of the engraving. Minor warping on the corners of the engraving. Overall paper is healthy and the impression is strong.
